Bella Traitors: Bella Ramsey’s Role, Career and Celebrity Traitors 2026 Journey
Bella Traitors searches have risen as viewers of The Celebrity Traitors try to learn more about Bella Ramsey and, most importantly, whether The Last of Us star is secretly playing as a Traitor. Ramsey joined the second celebrity series of the BBC reality game alongside actors, comedians, musicians and broadcasters competing in the Scottish Highlands.
The answer is already known to viewers of the opening episodes: Bella Ramsey began the game as a Faithful, not a Traitor. The initial Traitors selected in the premiere were Maya Jama and Richard E Grant, while Ramsey was among the Faithful contestants attempting to uncover them. James Acaster was subsequently recruited as another Traitor.
Ramsey may be one of the younger celebrities in the castle, but they entered with something many competitors did not have: years of experience playing social-deduction games similar to The Traitors.
Who Is Bella Ramsey from The Celebrity Traitors?
Bella Ramsey is an English actor best known internationally for playing Ellie in HBO’s The Last of Us and Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones.
Born in Nottingham in 2003, Ramsey began professional acting as a child. Their screen career grew rapidly after their memorable Game of Thrones debut, eventually leading to major television and film roles. As of October 2026, Ramsey is 23.
Their role as Ellie in The Last of Us brought particularly significant recognition. The Television Academy lists Ramsey as a two-time nominee for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, receiving nominations for the HBO series in both 2023 and 2025.
Joining The Celebrity Traitors therefore puts an established dramatic actor into a very different environment—one where there is no script and reading other people can matter as much as performing.

Is Bella Ramsey a Traitor or a Faithful?
Bella Ramsey is a Faithful in The Celebrity Traitors 2026, based on the episodes broadcast through 2 October.
When Claudia Winkleman selected the opening Traitors, Maya Jama and Richard E Grant received the secret roles. Bella remained with the much larger group of Faithfuls.
That distinction matters because the two sides have completely different jobs.
The Faithfuls have to observe conversations, behaviour and voting patterns to identify the hidden Traitors. The Traitors secretly work together and choose Faithful contestants to “murder” while trying to avoid being exposed at the Round Table.
The second episode changed the balance when James Acaster was recruited by Maya Jama and Richard E Grant, giving the Traitors another member. Bella remained a Faithful.
For readers following Bella Traitors updates, this is an important point because there was speculation before the premiere about whether Ramsey might receive a Traitor role.
Why Did Bella Ramsey Join The Celebrity Traitors?
Ramsey was already a genuine fan of this kind of game before appearing on The Celebrity Traitors.
Before the series aired, Ramsey revealed that they had been playing a version of The Traitors since around the age of 10 through their connection with Nottingham’s Television Workshop.
They described hosting game evenings at home and attending similar games organised by friends. Ramsey also said they were still playing social-deduction games shortly before joining the programme.
That background gives useful context to their casting. A professional actor might be expected to handle deception well, but Ramsey also entered with an understanding of how deduction-based games operate.
Being convincing is only one part of the challenge. Players also need to judge alliances, notice changes in behaviour and avoid making themselves look suspicious.
Does Bella Ramsey’s Acting Experience Give Them an Advantage?
On paper, acting experience appears useful in The Traitors.
Ramsey has spent years performing characters under pressure, from Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones to the emotionally demanding role of Ellie in The Last of Us.
However, acting professionally and deceiving real people in an unscripted social game are different skills.
A successful Faithful needs to appear trustworthy while questioning everybody else. Becoming too confident can make another player suspicious. Staying too quiet can have the same effect.
Ramsey’s biggest advantage may therefore be less about acting and more about their familiarity with the game’s basic psychology.
Their previous experience playing similar games means concepts such as bluffing, accusation, group voting and hidden roles were not completely new when they entered the castle.
Bella Ramsey’s Celebrity Traitors Journey So Far
The Celebrity Traitors Series 2 premiered on BBC One on 1 October 2026, with 21 celebrities entering the game. Claudia Winkleman returned as host, and contestants are competing for a charity prize of up to £100,000.
Bella survived the opening stage of the competition as a Faithful.
The first two episodes were dominated by the formation of the Traitor team, suspicion surrounding Richard E Grant and the recruitment of James Acaster. Amol Rajan became the first contestant murdered by the Traitors.
Ramsey has not been at the centre of every major confrontation so far, but they have already become involved in the atmosphere of suspicion.
Ross Kemp, for example, became concerned about interactions involving Ramsey and Leigh-Anne Pinnock as his paranoia about being targeted increased.
That illustrates an important part of the show: even ordinary conversations can suddenly become evidence in another contestant’s theory.
As of the end of the second episode, Bella remained in the competition.
Because the series is still airing, their eventual finishing position should not be treated as known until later episodes are broadcast.
Bella Ramsey’s Career Before The Traitors
Long before searches for bella traitors appeared, Ramsey had built one of the more recognisable careers among younger British actors.
Game of Thrones
Ramsey’s breakthrough came as Lyanna Mormont in HBO’s Game of Thrones.
Despite being a relatively small character compared with the show’s central figures, Lyanna’s confidence and authority quickly made her memorable to viewers.
The part established Ramsey internationally while they were still very young.
The Worst Witch and Hilda
Ramsey later played Mildred Hubble in The Worst Witch and became the voice of the title character in Netflix’s animated series Hilda.
These roles demonstrated a broader range beyond the serious fantasy performance that first made them famous.
Catherine Called Birdy
Ramsey took the title role in the 2022 historical comedy Catherine Called Birdy, directed by Lena Dunham.
The film gave Ramsey another leading role and helped build their profile before the biggest project of their career arrived.
The Last of Us
Ramsey was cast as Ellie opposite Pedro Pascal’s Joel in HBO’s adaptation of The Last of Us.
The programme became an international success, and Ramsey’s performance resulted in major awards recognition, including two Primetime Emmy nominations listed by the Television Academy.
It is this role that will probably make Ramsey immediately recognisable to many Celebrity Traitors viewers.
How Old Is Bella Ramsey on The Celebrity Traitors?
Bella Ramsey is 23 years old during the 2026 broadcast of The Celebrity Traitors.
They were born in Nottingham in September 2003.
This makes Ramsey one of the younger members of a cast that includes established figures from acting, comedy, music, broadcasting and modelling.
Despite their age, Ramsey already had roughly a decade of professional screen experience before entering the castle.
Who Else Is in The Celebrity Traitors 2026 Cast?
Series 2 brings together 21 well-known participants.
Alongside Bella Ramsey, the lineup includes Michael Sheen, Miranda Hart, Maya Jama, Richard E Grant, Ross Kemp, James Blunt, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, James Acaster, Joe Lycett, Rob Beckett, Romesh Ranganathan, Joanne McNally, Jerry Hall, Hannah Fry, Sharon Rooney, Julie Hesmondhalgh, Myha’la, Sebastian Croft and King Kenny. Amol Rajan also began the series as a contestant.
That variety is central to the format. Actors may appear naturally convincing, comedians can hide serious intentions behind humour, and broadcasters may be comfortable questioning people directly.
Yet The Traitors regularly shows that a person’s real-world profession does not guarantee success inside the game.
Where Is The Celebrity Traitors Filmed?
The programme uses Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands as the setting for the competition.
The castle and surrounding Highland scenery have become closely associated with the UK version of The Traitors. Contestants gather there for missions, discussions and the Round Table where players vote to banish someone they believe is a Traitor.
The celebrity version follows the same basic psychological format but uses famous contestants and a charity prize.
Why Bella Ramsey Is an Interesting Player to Watch
Bella’s background creates an unusual combination for the game.
They have professional acting experience, years of familiarity with social-deduction games and an established reputation from major scripted dramas.
But none of those qualities automatically solves the central problem facing every Faithful: the Traitors already know who the Faithfuls are, while the Faithfuls begin with very little reliable information.
Ramsey therefore has to turn observation into accurate decisions without becoming a target themselves.
That is what makes their progress worth following. Their real advantage may not be the ability to act at all. It may be knowing how quickly an apparently logical theory can collapse when a game is built around incomplete information and deliberate deception.
With Series 2 still unfolding, Bella’s complete Celebrity Traitors story has yet to be revealed.
